Mme Taylor est professeure de<em> <\/em><strong>Urban Governance and Regeneration<\/strong>, \u00e0 l&rsquo;University of the West of England, \u00e0 Bristol.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>The case studies highlight a number of important ingredients on which social capital can  be built. They have demonstrated:<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<blockquote>\n<ul>\n<li>The importance of physical and social improvements that help to build trust and confidence amongst residents by making the area look and feel safer.<\/li>\n<li>The value of community hubs \u2013 neighbourhood offices, community centres, radio stations, local parks \u2013 in giving the neighbourhood an identity that people can relate to and opportunities for people to come together.<\/li>\n<li>The resource that faith communities, with their long term presence and local rootedness, their facilities and their strong value base, can offer if they work together.<\/li>\n<li>The direct route into the community that schools can provide and their potential role in encouraging shared values and the development of social capital.<\/li>\n<li>The importance of celebrating the positives and assets of the neighbourhood if the poor reputation that many disadvantaged neighbourhoods have in the outside world is to be challenged rather than internalised.<\/li>\n<li>The importance of the skills, resources and experiences of partners \u2013 Defending Da Hood would never have got off the ground without the pooling of partners\u2019 resources.<\/li>\n<li>The importance of involving residents themselves in the design, development and management of their programmes.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Kevin Harris, qui pointait vers ce document dans <a href=\"http:\/\/neighbourhoods.typepad.com\/neighbourhoods\/2007\/08\/social-capital-.html\">un r\u00e9cent billet<\/a> de son carnet <a href=\"http:\/\/neighbourhoods.typepad.com\/neighbourhoods\/\">Neighbourhoods<\/a>, se demande si le concept de capital social ne connait pas un retour&#8230; En fait, comme je le disais plus bas, un <a href=\"http:\/\/www.humanities.manchester.ac.uk\/socialchange\/aboutus\/news\/documents\/Putnam2007.pdf\">article r\u00e9cent de Putnam<\/a>, ce grand pr\u00eatre du capital social des ann\u00e9es 90, met l&rsquo;accent sur les barri\u00e8res au maintien et d\u00e9veloppement de ce capital et de la solidarit\u00e9 en g\u00e9n\u00e9ral que repr\u00e9sentent les diversit\u00e9s ethniques et culturelles dans nos m\u00e9tropoles, et les soci\u00e9t\u00e9s occidentales. Ces barri\u00e8res devront \u00eatre ouvertes ou abaiss\u00e9es gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 des programmes et initiatives qui auront pour objectif d&rsquo;augmenter la confiance, et la reconnaissance entre les groupes&#8230; Mais je n&rsquo;ai pas encore termin\u00e9 l&rsquo;article de Putnam.
